When is the Best Month To Visit Cape Verde?

Cape Verde is a collection of 10 beautiful islands off the western coast of Africa. With direct flights from the UK taking just 6 hours it is becoming more and more popular. And with more people wanting to go, along with this comes the question of when is the best time to go there? That is the question we will answer for you today and tell you how what month you go will affect your experience. Let's go.

Getting to Cape Verde

You can fly all year round to Cape Verde from the UK, giving you many options. Direct flights operate from Birmingham, Bristol, London Gatwick and Manchester to Sal Airport. Direct flights into Boa Vista Airport are available from Birmingham, London Gatwick and Manchester.

What Month is Best?

Cape Verde has a very dry and tropical climate, making it the perfect choice for holidays all year round but especially in winter. The dry season is between November and June, temperatures are the warmest at this time and average around 30˚C. This does also cross over with the windy season which runs between October and July. However, wind speeds aren’t off-putting and if you’re relaxing by the pool in your hotel or eating at a restaurant then you won’t notice. This wind is no different than you find in Greece or any other island in the Mediterranean during the summer. This time of year is the most popular with tourists but as we mentioned earlier, due to the consistent weather it is evenly spread out.

Even in the so-called ‘wet season’, it is relatively dry. Running from July to October the average rainfall across the month only reaches 80mm, compare this with the Bahamas, where in the rainy season months can average 200mm of rain. Or in Phuket, Thailand where it reaches over 400mm. Temperatures in these months average around 22/23˚C and this means there is still plenty of sunshine and warm days. During these months Cape Verde is greener so it is a completely different look to the dry season when it is more arid.
